Hi Everyone iam the proud new owner of a 1968 Toyota Corona Deluxe 4 door and would like to say hello to everyone here on torc. Some info on my car, Blue with blue interior, It has no radio or AC, 3rc engine, 2speed Toyoglide transmission, no pass. mirror, 52,xxx miles, vin # RT4392851 , I have many original documents for the car including the original service booklet which says the car was sold at Sunrise Sales 327111 south fraserway abbotsford bc canada on August 30th 1968 to Agnes Deuck of Salmon Arm BC. I purchased the car from a young lady in Three Hills Alberta, the car had sat for 5 years before i found it. I was told the car stayed in the Red Deer and Three Hills Area for most of its life. I plan to lower the car using cut springs from a toyota truck in the front and 2 inch lowering blocks in the rear. Iam looking for alot of parts to restore and modify my corona. Ill add some pictures soon of my car for u guys.

Welcome to TORC deluxe. I can't wait to see photo's of this car. I am hoping you don't modify the 'Rona too much as it sounds like a dream original. Lowered on whitewall tyres would look awesome. Then just some period accessories perhaps. To each their own of course, but doing this would certainly make this car more valuable to you.

i picked up some 14x6 toyota mk 2 supra wheels for the corona, hopefully over winter i can hand polish them before new tires. i ran into some trouble today with the corona on the way to work, it started pissing out all the tranny fluid which was coming from between the engine and trans. My guess is the tranny output shaft gasket, could anyone give me some advice on what i should do?

RT43-92851, made 04/68. I would like to know the engine number. Look in front of the hole on the block where the distributor mounts, will be 3R xxxxxx (6 or 7 numbers).
I suggest that you pull the engine & transmission out as a unit unless you have a lift and other tools to safely work under the car.
Remove the transmission, check the front seal which may just be hard from setting so long. Remove the torque converter from the drive plate, and check the run-out of the drive plate at the circle where the torque converter mounts. The run-out should be less than 0.010". Remove the driveplate and check for cracks around the mounting holes. If all looks OK at this point, make adjustments to the transmission front & rear bands. These are more difficult to do with the transmission in the car.
While the engine is out, you might want to pull the pan and clean any sludge out of the bottom of the pan and the oil pump screen. Also remove the oil filter canister and clean the sludge out of that and install a new filter. You might also check the compression while the engine is still running to see if you need to pull the head and have the valves ground, and if you plan to run the engine hard have hardened valve seats installed.
I have new catalogs available, $20.25 to the USA (cost to copy & mail) or $27.25 outside the USA, or free with an order.
