I checked the Parts Catalog for the Totyota Lite Stout Model RK41, 41L (No. 93351-64) [edition November 1966]. It lists: 28100-40010 28100-40040 there were handwritten notes that changed the -40010 to a -40014 and the -40040 to a -40041 None of the numbers are available.
the October 1964 Microfiche I have lists: 28100-40010 28100-40040 28100-40041 no explanation as to why there are several numbers.
The computer at work shows that the 28100-40010 is superseded by 28100-40014-84, and that the -40040 and -40041 are superseded by 28100-37011
Again, none of the part numbers is still available.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

On www.partsvoice.com, I found a dealer by the name of Blackwell Baldwin Toyota in Missouri that shows stock for a remanufactured starter ( 28100-40014-84). You will need to call them to make sure their inventory is current. Sometimes these participating dealers don't update their listings and will show an item as being available when it fact it is not. The phone# is: (573) 785-6484 Keep us posted! Rick

I don't know much about Stouts, but I would have assumed a Stout with the 3R engine uses the same, or nearly the same, starter as the 3R engine in the '65-70 Corona?

The 3RB engines used in the Stout RK41, Corona RT43, and others thru 3R-500000 had part of the bell housing cast as part of the block & used the earlier 28100-40010 to 28100-40014 starters.
At 3R-500001 the partial bell housing was deleted from the 3RB block & the starter changed to the 28100-40041, etc. part numbers. I do stock these, aftermarker reman, $64.50 + Priority flat rate box with insurance $11.95, total $76.45. I take paypal.
There was an adapter made to use the earlier transmissions (with the partial bell housing) with the later blocks.

I do not know of any kits to rebuild the starter. Please list the individual parts needed and I will see what I have.
Is your starter for 3R-500000 and earlier?

Good day Carlyn,
The starter is the 28100-40030 (my block is pre 50001). The starter motor is dragging (regardless of power supply). I took it apart, and from what I can see, the drive bushing (90099-10058 - 90099-10033-.030"-90099-10038-.050") is worn oblong. The brushes are also about .100" from the ND logo. What is the stock diameter of the drive shaft?

I had a spare starter, and it seems to work well. I would still be interested in spare parts for a rebuild, I'll probably make the drive bushing at work.
I followed up on an earlier comment that was made about the 28100-40014-84 and it's availability through forklift dealers. The new number for it is 28100-31021-RF, if anyone has need for a remanufactured unit.

I looked for and did not find the 28100-40030 starter listed.
I measured the bushings and they are about: 90099-10058/10092 std ID 12.5mm, OD 16.5mm, L 14mm 90099-10033 u/s 0.3mm ID 12.2mm, OD 16.5mm, L 14mm 90099-10039 u/s 0.5mm ID 12.0mm, OD 16.5mm, L 14mm
My Australian fiche lists the 28100-40010 thru 40014 as used on the 2R engines & other so there should be more cores & spare parts any place the 2R was used (not in the USA).
