I am working with Toyota in an effort to bring car club members to the Monterey Historic Race at Laguna Seca in Northern California. It is going to be an unbelievable event. I would like to speak to the president of TORC to organize special access credentials for club members. Does anyone know who runs this organization and perhaps a contact number? Thanks in advance. John,
Thank you for dropping by with your announcement.
I know Toyota is getting ready for their 50th anniversary in the US, and I'm sure we would like to assist & participate at the Monterey Historic Race!
Currently TORC doesn't have a president per se. Our Founder was Stuart Resor, but we seem to have lost contact with him over the years.
My name is Mike Foertsch and I am the news editor for TORC and if you would like to email me at newsletter@toyotaclub.org - I can give you some direct contact information.
Regards,
Mike ~ Toyotageek

Here is an update with more information regarding the Monterey Historic Races presented by TOYOTAAs you may, or may not know, the Monterey Historic Races Presented by Toyota is approaching quickly. As it has for the last thirty-three years, the event will be held at the Laguna Seca Raceway from August 18-20.
The Monterey Historic Race weekend is considered to be the finest gathering of automobiles at any one place in the world. Vintage races are held throughout the day with old Formula One cars and multi-million dollar sports cars. Toyota will have several Expo areas displaying historic Toyota racecars as well as special Lexus and Scion cars. The highlight of the weekend will be the presence of the Toyota Formula One car and team and it’s on track performance. This is truly special as Formula One only runs one race here in the US, and most people never get to witness some of the finest technology and jaw dropping performance of any kind. It’s similar to an F-16 fighter plane, just on the ground!
Toyota would like all car club members to come out and enjoy a wonderful weekend and learn more about Toyota heritage, and classic automobiles in general. It will be a celebrity filled event packed with excitement and beauty. There is special car club parking in the infield and a reduced ticket price for all who attend. Please round-up your troops and bring the family.
Please email me at: montereyhistoric@yahoo.com
Event info: www.montereyhistoric.com
Hope to see you there!
Regards,
John Kendall- Toyota is the presenting sponsor of the event.
- Car registration, Corral parking and passes for Club members are available for all three days.
- There will be 2 Toyota Expo areas, Lexus Lounge, a Toyota working paddock, and a bevy of other things going on.
- There will car clubs of every sort, Scion, Lexus, Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, Mazerati, Bugati, and many more.
- Some of the world’s rarest and most spectacular cars will be on site, and racing on the track. It’s a site to see people dual it out in their $5 million + cars and not holding back.
- Club Parking - The infield parking is close to some of the Expos so there will be foot traffic checking things out. There is no limit to the number of cars. The more the merrier!!
- 12 special suite passes for selected people. Those people are: the longest continuous Toyota owners, highest mileage Toyota’s, and, best I love what you do for me picture!
As we receive more information we will post it here.
As of this writing, several 2000GT's are expected to be there - a tentative list of cars includes both Shelby 2000GTs, Formula One car and Team, a number of historic Toyota race cars and appearances by a number of past Toyota race car drivers. We hope to get specific detail soon.
If you are interested in attending, please contact John at montereyhistoric@yahoo.com and tell him you are with TORC - the Toyota Owner's and Restorer's Club.
Car registration and attendance is REQUIRED!
Please keep registration limited to TOYOTA powered vehicles ONLY!

Sent my email to John asking more about the Monterey Historic. Wanted to know if there was a discount on the tickets that included a campsite and if there would be a TORC parking section. I'll certainly do my best to be there.

TORC members will receive special pricing - If you are interested in attending, please contact John Kendall at montereyhistoric@yahoo.com and tell him you are with TORC - the Toyota Owner's and Restorer's Club.
There will be an area in the infield for club parking, with a seperate section for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion clubs. Not knowing what the actual turnout will be we could arrange to meet fellow TORC members at one of the Toyota Expo areas or Paddock area on Saturday.
Most of our Board of Directors plan on being there Saturday. I might be there all three days (at least in part). I'm thinking of driving up on Friday and leaving early Sunday. Unfortunately I don't think I'll drive the Celica.
I'm trying to get updates from John on a regular basis, but if you learn of something new, please pass it on to the rest of us here on the Forum.

That's a very good question, and I'm trying to find out more about it.
The Monterey Historics website lists the schedule for the weekend: www.montereyhistoric.com/event/schedule.html There are races all 3 days, so it really depends on what you want to see. Saturday & Sunday will each feature 2 seperate Toyota Motorsports Demonstration Laps (so that's 4 demonstration laps total!).
As I get more information, I will announce it here.
Remember - if you want to attend, contact John at montereyhistoric@yahoo.com for exact registration information including pricing. Don't forget to mention you are with TORC.

Here is an update from the organizers of the event:
The organizers are a little concerned as to the responses that they are receiving. The whole point in providing incentive by Toyota was to get club members there with their cars. The organizers are trying to rally owners and their cars to park in the Car Corral where pictures will be taken on Saturday and mailed to all Toyota heads around the world. The organizers are getting a good number of people who are coming, but are not bringing their cars. The organizers will honor those who have already registered, but they wish to make it clear that to receive the discount, you must be with your Toyota.
To any and all Toyota owners, if you have not yet registered for this event please do so, and please be aware that you are requested to bring your Toyota so that it may be parked in the Toyota Corral. Toyota has provide us with a great incentive in the form of these discount passes, and in turn ask registered participants to Please bring their cars!

You can just park the car.
More than anything, I think they just want a good showing of Toyotas - the more the merrier!
As much as I'd like to bring my Celica, I don't think it is up the the drive, so I will probably be taking my 4Runner & it is definately not a show car - it's just a daily driver!

Important News regarding Registration!
RWB, the organizers for Toyota at the Monterey Historics have made a change to how they are handling the logistics of the credentials. Due to a large response, they have decided to have a registration booth for the car clubs. Once they have received payment, they will add the registered names to a list. RWB will email all those who have provided an email as a confirmation. The registered people who have made payment will then be able to pick up their event tickets and parking passes at the Hyatt Regency Monterey. The booth will be set up in front of the convention hall which is just to the right of the main hotel entrance (you do not go into the hotel). Hours are 8-5 on Friday and Saturday.
Following is the address of the Hyatt in Monterey:
1 Old Golf Course Road, Monterey, California, 93940-4908 USA Tel: 831 372 1234
What this means is - Credentials will not be mailed out. All registered TORC attendees will have to pick up their credentials and parking passes at the Hyatt Regency Monterey!
