well i picked up a stout earlier this month and am glad to have found this place. as you can see its got some rust, a lot of it. it sat on the ocean for something close to a decade. the main reason i picked it up for the presmog title. still trying to decide the path forward ... hot rod or offroad. im scared to tear into as the amount of rust that is waiting and holes in the body. it has caused me to want to pick up another one to drive around.

Alright, another Stout & another Stout Owner! Maybe we finally got something going here!
Thanks for joining us & welcome to our Forums!
Looks like the truck has seen some better days, but it's not the worst I've seen! I have pix of one with lichen growing on it! I was a coastal car from somewhere in central or northern California.
They are kind of common, but not very. It seems like most are left to rot or converted to 4X4. Shamefully too many have non-Toyota engines. Heck, at least put in a Toyota engine if you're gonna rip into it...haha. Frankly I rather see them all kept stock, but with parts availability what it is, that's not realistic.
Whatever you decide to do with it, I wish you good luck.

Hot Rod it.... Hot Rod it... Hot Rod it... Hot Rod it... Hot Rod it... Hot Rod it... ;D That way I can live my dream through you. I totally wanted to rod mine, but when I got it home and had a good look at howe nice and original it is, I changed my mind. Also my friends said I was crazy if I started to hack into it at all. Welcome to the Forum by the way. Always room for another Stout owner. Your truck looks like it is gonna take plenty of work to do, but it will be worth it. These trucks are really cool and everyday people seem to be really taken with them...... well they are with mine so far anyway. Keep us posted on your progress and your tough decision....... Rodded Stout...... or........ 4x4 Stout........... You gotta rod it ;D

the drivetrain will remain toyota. got a few ideas 22rte propane powered 22r (possbile turbo) 22re 3rze
it will mostly depend on whats availble when i have $$. id REALLY like to keep the 4 on the tree cause its just cool. depending on what the belt housing pattern looks like or if i can swap bellhousings. ive also considering running a V8 out of a tundra. if i was made of money id track down a nascar v8. if i do hack this one up i will be on the look out for a new one to keep closer to stock.

well i just found out this truck has close to $600 in DMV fees before i can get it registered. given the condition, the fees, and my plans its just not smart for me to go keep it. so before i cut it up and send it to the dump, does anyone want anything? hell if someone wants the whole thing its all yours. rig is located in southern california.

Thats a shame to hear that another one is going to be lost to the dump. It's understandable though that you don't want to spend an unplanned $600 on it that doesn't even get you anything real. Hopefully someone can at least benefit from some parts. I could use that rear bumper bar, but I don't like the idea of paying freight to Australia.

Hey Mobil1syn! Why not try asking some of the guys over at Cabe Toyota (in Long Beach) if they would like to buy your truck? This will hopefully ensure that it will go to a good home.

Did you end up selling it? I could use some parts from it, I'm in San Diego.
