My fuel gauge was broken when I bought my stout and it is getting annoying. The gauge has been tested and I suspect that the fuel sender is the problem. Any tricks to getting the sender out? I've been told that I can use any sender that will fit - it doesn't necessarily have to be from a Stout.

I acually pulled both tanks, one from mine and the other from the parts truck and had them both restored. A shop in Portland did it and it wasen't that much. I only took apart the one off the parts truck because at first I didn't think it was salvagable. The sender was frozen and wasn't moving up and down anymore. All I did was unbolt the bolts on the top and pull it out and sprayed it with some wd40 and broke it free so it moved freely again. Then I had the tanks dipped and sprayed and they both work really well. The tanks have a really simple shape though so if you wanted to get a general sending unit from JEGS or a shop of your choice Im sure you could make it work. Hope this helps. P.S. dont forget to attach your ground or nothing will work, ran into that problem and took a while to figure out. Andrew
