Right now Ive got an 18r and an automatic eventually I would like to swap in a 18rg w/5spd. Does anyone know how difficult this would be? As far an motor mounts wiring etc...Since the carbs are on the opposite sides? Any info would help. Thanks.

The 18r and 18rg blocks are the same. So the lower half of the motor shouldn't be an issue.

I put an 18rg in my 2dr. 68 and it was no problem. I even used the stock mounts. The drivers side was used backwards. I blew the rearend about 7 times after the swap, but got a 79 supra rear and shortened it and put MOSER racing axles. Now i'm all good to spank V8s.

I never seem to find anyone who's selling an 18rg except for some of the people on the 3tc site. I was curious how difficult would it be to swap in a 4age & 5spd from a corolla? I love it in the 1st gen mr2 I think it would be great in my corona. Though I have just contiplated keeping the 18r and using my offy intake and running a weber and header. Anyone have any opinions let me know. Thanks.

18RG is easier. 4AG will have oil pan clearance issues with the cross member.
