I think I'm in love. I'm a car nut. Have had a heck of a lot of them and will have a heck of a lot more. I never really get attached to them except for my little Mk1 Cortina ratter and I will never sell that car. Have had it 12 years now.
Well........... I just bought a Stout yesterday ;D , put a deposit on it anyway. I go back to pick it up next weekend. I already have a feeling I will get attached to this car and will never want to sell it. I had never even heard of one before, let alone seen one and I am around cars, car shows and car enthusiasts constantly.
An elderly guy out in the country advertised it and so I drove a 3 hour round trip to go and have a look at it. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited about having agreed to buy it.
I live in Adelaide, Australia and these things must be incredibly rare here because as I say....... I have never seen one before.
It doesn't have a single dent on it, the interior is incredible. The bench seat needs retrimming, but apart from that it is amazing. Even the inner door trims are in good condition. No rust either, just surface rust in the tray.
Apparently this thing had been sitting in his barn for at least 8 years as he recalls. Was just used on his property to collect wood. It had two owners before him, so that makes me owner 4. Even still had the Owners Manual with it.
I spoke to him on the phone and he said to bring a car battery if I wanted to try and start it up. Guess what. It started very easily and only a tiny puff of smoke on first fire up. I left it running a bit and it idled down nicely. I can't believe it. It has no brakes though as I had a quick drive of it on his driveway and found that out. Hehe.
All the electrics work as well. Lights, wipers...... everything. I can't believe my luck.
I simply can't wait to go and get this car next weekend, but then unfortunately it will be stored at a friends house until I sell a couple of my cars and can fit it at my house. Oh well, at least it's a good reason to get off my arse and sell some cars I don't need.
Here's a photo.
Okay all, sorry for the long post. I expect I will be asking lots of questions in the future as I know nothing about this car.
