Hello all, Some of you may know me, if you do... please don't tell the rest of the guys what an awful bastard I am. happy.gif I'm new to this forum, and I just bought my first REAL vintage toyota! it's a '69 RT-43. I've been an AE86 owner for a year or two now, but I've been looking for a smog-exempt car to use as a daily-driver. This Corona TOTALLY fell into my lap, and I'm really glad I went for it. It's got a 3R (not a 3R-C for some reason...) and the Toyoglide 2spd auto (that's like astroglide with tire-rubber chunks in it right?). I'm planning an engine update within the next few years, but I'm in no hurry. This car runs great as it is, except the carb is junk, but I'll fix that soon. A friend and I are going to try a Nikki 4bbl (low-cfm 4bbl from a 1st-gen RX7), and if that doesn't work, it's good'ol 32/36 webber time. I'm actually wondering if anyone around here has a 4spd laying around, or if you guys have any insight as to how much it'd raise my gearing. The 2spd is fun, and cruises RELATIVELY comfortably at 65-70, but it'd be great to drop the revs a bit. Either that or a 3.70 gearset (from the 4spd car). Also looking for a windshield! thanks! -Geoff

Here's my corolla, Toytageek! thanks for the welcome! I want to mod it mainly because I CAN! I've been waiting SO many years to have a smog-exempt car... the other reason is that I really would like to turn it into my everyday-use car. A beams 3S-GE would be perfect because I can get GREAT MPG's out of it, I can put AC on it, I can cruise at low revs with it (6spd), and you know... all they fly honeys will like the underhood bling bling shiny shiny. I really am enjoying it stock right now, but I'm sure that'll wear off soon ahhaha.

Geoff: If you find any new windshields being made for the RT43 (or the RT52) or any old stock please let us all know.
You might try to order a new clear windshield 56111-20090 thru your Toyota dealer 'off line' and see if they are still available. It has been several years since I got a few for stock.
I have the front & rear weatherstrips in stock ($61.53 each) for the RT43. If you need to change the headliner (in stock $104.00 black, white & fawn), do that while you have the front & rear glass out. Recovered visors are $160.00 per pair.

Thanks Carlyn. I THINK I have a source for the windshield, I just need to get in contact with them. I'll certainly share any sources I find. As for the headliner and visors, they're actually looking pretty sweet! maybe I'll pick up some extras just to keep around...
You wouldn't happen to have a handle on grills would you? not an immediate-fix item, but my grill is a teeny bit broken.

Here's my corolla, This photo looks like it is at some sort of ex-gunnery? Like there would have been a big swivelling cannon mounted up in there.

whoa! sorry for not posting in here for so long... I actually forgot about this board! OZ_Stout - yes, that's an old military installation just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Awesome spot for car shoots PS, I'm driving my Corona on the street full-time now, since my AE86 is undergoing a GZE swap. I haven't really done anything to the Corona, except a few creature comforts... like a tach, and my vintage wood nardi
