Hello once again fellow stouters! The state that I live in has mandatory safety belt use, and provides that a vehicle manufactured after 01/65 is required to have safety belts. The stout that I purchased, and the one that I had prior , do not have them. Checking the vin numbers, they should have them. I assume someone took them out. Would anyone have pictures of the type and placement of these belts that they would be willing to share? I am not sure if they were just lap or if they included shoulder, any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!

I took a look at a Toyota Lite Stout (Model RK41, RK41L) Parts Catalog, and there does not appear to be any seat belts listed for the early Stout. I guess safety wasn't a concern back then! You can get generic lap belts from JC WhitneyNow, how about an introduction? Where are you located? Tell us about your Stout! Please take the time to add it to our STOUT REGISTRY page.

Thanks Mike. I posted in the registry for one of my Stouts. The other one I will need to get the info on, it is in much worse shape and I have my work cut out for me. It should be fun, I am working on the body panels right now. Planning to also put in a slightly modified 22R - 5 speed combination in that one. There is a place that makes a DUI distributor for the motor that should make life a little easier for the installation and upkeep. I'll get some photos when I get a chance.

Mine is a '65 Lite-Stout here in Australia and aftermarket seatbelts have been installed. I reckon it was done very early in it's life though because the belts are old as the hills but they have been installed by drilling a hole in the B pillar and putting a bolt through to attach the belts too. Real ugly and I wish it had been done differently. So on this basis I would say you are right Mike..... they didn't come factory with belts. Australian compliance laws may have deemed it necessary to install aftermarket belts however or at some stage the previous owner of mine may have had a scare and done it himself.
