So I have a car built for the the japan home market. It is a 1970ish
markII over the years i have had a chance to check out MarkII for the US market. So other than the wheel being on the other side I noted....
That my car may be built from lighter gage metal. I K N O W the front bumper is. About 15 years back some *&^%$# hit the front bumper on my car while it was parked and put a nice dent in it. When i changed it out the first thing i noticed was the bolts holding the bumper bracket to the frame was different. The USA model car i had used a 14mm on the bolts, my car has 12mm. After i got my old bumper off i checked them both out, the bumper blade and brackets looked almost the same but my original is much lighter in weight. Yet both bumpers both set of plate holes in them
Another difference is the japan vehicle has an "extra" set of parking lights. It is on the switch the works the hazard flashers. When you pull out the knob it is the same has US cars. When off, you can turn the knob to turn the left on only, then right only, then both. The lamps are small bulbs like in the side marker lamps but are in the park/turn lamp on the front and the outside lens of the trail light. I noted the a lot of Japan cars in the US have the hole for this but no lamp.
The front fender lamps are part of the turn signal and did not light up with the park/head lamps, it was also not like the us market MarkII but more like the fender lamp used on the older Corona cars i have seen hear. In the rear of the car there was no red lamp just on orange reflector.
The head lamps are different, while still sealed beams the pattern on then is almost a mirror image.
The windshield is made of tempered glass not laminated.
No number stamped on the vin pad on the dash
And the plate/gas cap door has only one set of bolt holes for that
do not line up with US plates.
