Okay people, no laughing, but I don't know what this is. We don't have them in Australia. I spotted this on the Japanese Nostalgic Car site. The photo was taken at the Japanese Classic Car Show just gone on October 6th in Long Beach. Can someone please tell me what it is and what years this model was produced? I can't quite make out the badge on the front guard. I'm assuming it's an early 70's Hilux..... but that is just a guess.

You got it right - early 70's Hilux. Not sure what year this particular truck was, but I think this is the first generation which was made from 1970 - 72(?). This truck and the Stout and Land Cruiser pickup in the background all belong to the Toyota USA Museum.

Thanks TG........... yeh I figured it was a museum car as it was parked next to the red Stout that seems to show up at everything over there. Jeez would I love to get my hands on that. The Hilux is pretty cool though as well. I like.

It is actually newer than that. I am not sure exactly but it is between 1973-75. The earlier HiLux pick-ups had the signal lights on the fenders and after 1976 the grill around the head lights was a little different.

Yep, good call. I did a google image search on "1971 Hilux" and came up with this: As mentioned. it seems to have indicators up on the fenders........ not in a cool way like the Stouts, but in an after-thought kinda way.......... and the grille/headlight setup is different. Thanks for that riceburnerbob.............. I'm trying to learn to date the classic Yota's. Never had a Toyota previous to the Stout, so never known anything about them.
