It would be great if anyone here who wants to would contribute info on good junkyards in their area.
I will continue to recommend the Pick-A-part in Irwindale (right below Monrovia, next to Pasadena, for you Route 66-area fans) as my local favorite, although I've seen some nice stuff at the foreign-car yard next to the famous Sun Valley Pick-A-Part as well, I can't say the Irwindale yard has the world's biggest stockpile of Toyopets or 2000GTs (although with their mysterious 100-or-so-pre-1970-car holding-pen, who knows...?), but I've seen MANY vintage Toys in this yard, and enough body parts in amazing SoCal condition that I should have long ago started a business buying and re-selling the parts from that 'yard online. I could sell rust-free body-parts all day long to all of the Canadian members I've seen in various forums....
On my most recent visit they appeared to be having a bit of a dry spell on the many early Coronas, Corollas, Celicas, Cressidas and early (I & II) Supras I used to find there, but the place has a relatively-fast turnover (just a week in some cases) so you never know what may show up. Most recently they have had some great newer stuff --- MR2s, the last rear-drive Corollas, and MkIII Supras.
And, the Lexus LS400's V-8 I just saw there would make a lovely addition for you Starlet owners....

The U-Pull Parts in Santa Paula, CA also has a lot of Toyotas, mainly 70s & 80s but once in awhile a 60s car. The nice thing there, unlike Sun Valley, is that the cars are not as picked over and trashed. It's not as crowded either! Take the Briggs exit from Hwy 126 in Santa Paula, go south and follow sharp curve to west, then follow road as it makes a left curve onto Mission Rock Rd. There are 3 or 4 junkyards on the left side of the street, and the U-Pull-Parts is near the end of the street.
