Welcome to the forum mate. Great to have another Aussie Stout owner around. Funny thing is that when I looked at the pic of your Stout, the very first thing I noticed was the strange stud pattern. I think because the first place I look is wheels to see if there are hubcaps You have a reply to your pm by the way. Gotta ask also............. what is the other Truck in the pic? It looks awesome. Would love to have something like that in the same condition, but all parts there and working, full rat style with whitewalls. Very cool.

the toyota stout came out with the six stud rims . the lite stout came out with the five stud rims . the stout has a bigger pay load than the lite stout.have a look at the compliance plate it should have either rk43 or rk101

Hi everyone Frenchy here from Tempe Arizona. My 1958 Toyopet has 6 stud wheels and the other 58 Toyopet I have as a parts car also has 6 stud wheels but the rims look different than my other Toyopet. Could someone post a picture of your Stout rim so that I can compare them with mine.
Thanks Frenchy Dehoux

The other truck is a Commer that was converted into a crane truck. It's more rusty than it looks so its a garden ornament. My stout is about half as rusty; theres about an inch of rust holding the roof on. I got the bonnet open and unearthed the compliance plate, its a rk101 didnt see what year model. I'm so happy it does have the 5R 2 litre! Should make it alot more fun!

So I tried to start the stout and all the electrics seem fine but it wounldn't crank over. So I pulled the starter motor out and it wouldn't work properly simply because of the buildup of oily crud! I pulled it apart and cleaned it and hey presto it worked! Now I have to put it back in and hope the rest of the engine is fine. Are there any things I should know that are specific to this engine that might help when I go to start it?

Still haven't got any more photos cos I forgot the camera, but I put the starter motor back in this weekend. But the engine seems to be seized so bum!

Is penatrine a penentrating lube like WD40? Sure Is - That stuff will penetrate and dissolve anything in it's way.

Over the weekend I put WD40 down the sparkplug holes and left it alone for 2 full days. With my Dad's help we towed it around the paddock and attempted to turn the engine by clutching it. But the engine didn't turn at all so oh well. I still don't know whether or not I can be bothered to pull it apart and fix it. I got some photos though so I'll post some up. If anyone wants to see anything particular ask and eventually I'll get a photo and post it on here. If you like anything you see in the Stout and you're willing to go to canberra, Australia you can have it for cheaps. mmm, rusty This is the front wheel, which is a 15 inch split rim. this is the back one. It was dodgyed up to accept a big wide BF Goodrich All-Terrain on a 15 inch rim. Not Stout hubcaps Oz stout, but I think they are quite cool.
