Hi Gilles and welcome to the TORC Forum!
Sweet looking Celica... I love the bumpers! But... did I read correctly? You bought this car NEW in 1977?!!! That's fantastic!

Thanks for sharing those pictures and giving us some background on you & your cars. My 77 Celica also has about 60,000 miles on it, but I'm the second owner. When I first got the car over 12 years ago, it had 33,000 miles on it.
I like your tires too! What size are they? Are they on the original wheels?

Yes they are on original wheel. I think they are 195-60-14.

;D Thanks Gilles. I will keep those tires in mind when it's time to change mine! I plan on keeping my car as stock as possible, but those tires give it a more aggressive look without directly affecting the car itself.

Hey Gilles! I am also the original owner of my 1982 SR5 pickup truck. I got my truck on Nov. 17, 1981 when I was a Junior in HS. I remember walking to the back lot at the dealership and seeing two Beige SR5's. One was a Longbed and the other was a Shortbed. I had my eye on a Beige Shortbed and jumped right in. The accessories were all that I wanted which were the chrome step bumper, the vent windows on the doors, rear sliding window, power steering, tilt, A/C and a very rare option... cruise control. I'm glad that the truck did not come with the factory moon roof. My truck has about 253,000 miles on the clock and I still enjoy driving it to this day. The thing that makes it so much fun are all of the mods to that 22R motor.
In 1981, my cost out the door was ~$8,500.00
See you around! Rick

Hey!
BTW, the 1977 Celica GT Liftback is my most favorite Celica model. I had a female friend who had a White coupe and another friend who had a Silver liftback. Very cool car, although one cannot find one in good condition these day with the exception of yours and ToyotaGeek I would see them in the wrecking yards, but obviously the sheet metal (i.e fenders) are always taken since they are only available now in fiberglass.

It seems like any "good condition original" Toyota is far & few between these days. Everyone has rebuilt and done mods to most cars you see, which in a way, is nice to see being done. I was lucky when I came across my car, and in the beginning I thought about making some changes to it, but now I'm glad I didn't. It still has the original paint, and looks almost new - sure it has a few imperfections here & there, but that comes with age & originality. There are days though where I wish I had another, just so I could fix it up to my idea of the ideal Celica!

Yes , Celica in all stock form is very hard to come by. In all those years I have tried to keep it stock the more I can..I have change the water pump this summer and it was the original belt that was on it. Here is a pic with U.S. bumpers and Vector mag wheels. I have taken of the mag to put the original steel wheels. And some day I will take of the Euro style bumpers to put back U.S. ones.I like the way it looks with those bumpers. But maybe one day when I will have to sell, it will be better if it is in all original stock.

Beautiful car! It's so unusual to see something that old and polished! Keep it safe and sound.
