Hi my name is Angela and I own a 1986 SR5 Toyota 4x4 pickup that needs a 5 speed manual transmission. I am told that this is like seeking a UNICORN because of 84 and under pickups with defective transmissions that have used up all the 85 and up transmissions in junkyards, etc. I did find another transmission, but it was not a G type like mine was. I thought we could just swap it out, but should have known better!
The difference is that the 4x4 gearshift connects to the actual transmission in my old setup, but now it needs to connect to the transfer case for this to work, (which I know means having to cut a bigger hole in the floor). Well, I did not get the transfer case that goes with the new transmission!!! The guy I bought it from told me that mine would bolt right up to it. NOT TRUE. 4x4 gearshifter and the holes that it goes into......they don't match up, either.
Anyone have any suggestions as to the quickest way to get my baby back on the road??
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
