Hi, I found this post and noticed a guy posted a thread about a broken wire in his distributor. Been working on an older 67 rt43 and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between 67 and 68 distributors. You can find 68s on ebay and they look similar, Anyway the same wire is broke on mine the wire from the vacuum advance. Does anyone know if this wire serves a purpose. It runs when I start it, idles for 2-3 minutes than dies. Seems like its running rich. I rebuilt the carb (which was plugged up pretty badly) swapped out the fuel pump(the previous owner had an electric one, I went back to mechanical) and it runs good just rich. I can keep it running with more gas it seems . but after it warms it wants to die. I know it has that broken wire (not sure where it goes though) any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The ground wire is to provide a better ground for the rotating breaker plate where the points are mounted.
The early distributors 19100-40012/13 (condenser inside) & 19100-40014/15/16 do not show the ground wire. Some rebuilders will add one.
The later distributors 19100-40050/51 have a ground wire, one end which is soldered in a notch on the vacuum advance unit and the other goes under a screw on the breaker plate.
I have a replacement wire: (051A) 1 19103-GWIRE WIRE, GROUND REPAIR 2.17
