Just throwing this out there. Was building this to just be a cool ass daily driver...but I have come to find out, that I cant have a car/truck with so much potential as a daily driver (tried it with my supra and that tuned into a resto as well). I really just need to get into something I dont feel the need/desire to resto/mod and turn into a weekend cruiser or fun car. I am looking to get into a first gen 4x4 4 runner, or ANY 4cyl 4x4 truck...so I am open to trades for those vehicles. This truck is in really great shape and had a significant jump into a restomod type reconditioning. I wanted it to be comfortable to drive, while still staying true to a cool old toyota.
SO, here is more about the truck itself.
The only real rust on the truck is on the floor of the bed. Has a couple holes all the way through..but that is the only significant rust on the truck. Nothing but minor surface rust ANYWHERE else on the truck...
The bed was removed and the underside was completely stripped/wired wheeled and painted with a 30 year industrial semigloss black paint. Frame was done up to the cab aswell while the bed was off. Custom lower rockers were made for the bed to match it up with the lower cab of the truck. These are made of steel, welded in and coated as well. Seam was filled with top end glass auto filler. Body is pretty d**n straight. Passenger fender needs a little massaging, as does the tail gate...The nose piece has a dent, but I have a spare dent free one to go with the truck (also have a spare grill and 2 sets of good chrome light bezels). Rest of the truck is pretty d**n straight only requiring some basic filler/block sanding work. I put the whole truck in black primer since I wasnt getting around to body work yet to seal it all up. Good and thick so will provide a great sanding surface to finish up the body and paint.
Interior:
Interior was completely stripped and painted to a nice satin black and the dash was repainted in the same stock grey color. Heater box was removed, and reconditioned as well and works as it should. All electronics work (blinkers, lights, speedometer/gauges, wipers, etc)(one of the brights is out..just needs a bulb/replacement headlight) A sound deadening material was layed down on the floor (knock off dynomat) and then black automotive carpet was layed. Two generic Buckets are installed and are actually real comfortable and a good fit inside the truck. All glass is good, except the windshield does have a crack, BUT i have a good crack free used windshield sitting in my basement that goes with the truck aswell.
Drivetrain::
Original 3rb and 4 speed column shift tranny have been removed (column shifter still in place). A rebuilt 20r and 5 speed floor shift tranny have been installed. Runny and working well. The engine tranny and rear axle are all out of a 78 2wd pickup. I also swapped the front disc brakes and power brake booster of of the 78 aswell. It all appears as if it should be there and looks pretty stock. Radiator out of the same gen truck with two electric fans that keep it more than cool.
Lowering/suspension::
Truck is lowered a bit all the way around to give it a more modern mini truck type stance (far from "slammed"). Back has 3" drop block and a couple of leafs out of the ridiculously large leaf pack. The upper shock mount has been moved more vertical to get more lift out of the air shocks.
Truck has air shocks FRONT and rear. These give the truck about 2.5 more inches of clearance when fully aired up. Front has been dropped by 2 coils cut out of the springs. It actually rides real nice with the air shocks up front.
It has all new ball joints, outter tie rods, and an alignment.
I have some cool custom LED tail lights that I was going to install in the rocker under the tailgate that go with it aswell.
Im sure I am forgetting things, so just feel free to ask some questions. Here are just some pictures.
Engine pictures will come tomorrow!
So yeah thats it... As for a cash price...
well I dont NEED to get rid of it, and I know what it would be worth with just a bit more work. These are getting more rare and hard to find, but are a sweet ass piece of toyota truck history.
Going to throw out my crack pipe price at 3k obo.
