If you replaced yours, why? and what did you use? If you kept it, did you rebuild it at some point? I have a '65 what will keep it running the longest?

I like the original, I found 3 or 4 carb rebuild kits a year or so ago and am going to use that. On the other hand, a real flaw I’ve noticed is the accelerator pump tends to wear out. Its a cylinder that has a leather piston inside, when you give it gas it pumps and gives an initial shot of fuel so you don’t get the flat spot hesitation, as the truck is very old the cylinder, not the leather cup wears out. The aluminum just starts to erode so the leather doesn’t set right and you get a flat spot. I’ve smoothed and stretched the leather but as time goes it getting worse. I’ve tried different carbs but many are having the same problem, so you might consider a Weber.

ME PERSONALY I WOULD GO FOR THE WEBBER UPGRADE IT WORKS EVEN BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL CARBY.IT ALSO GIVES BETTER FUEL ECONOMY .WITH A LOT MORE POWER WHEN NEEDED. BEEN THERE DONE THAT ON MY 62 LITE STOUT

I know this is an old thread, but a jetted down 22r carb with electric choke is GREAT on the 3r. I have it, fires like a fuel injected car, revs amazing! Plus 22r parts are mass abundant and easy/cheap to get
