Hey recently bought a 1980 Corona Station Wagon, which I love every bit of except for the gas mileage. Initially didn't get better than 21 mpg on the free way.
What kind of mileage are other folks getting on similar cars? Is this normal, or is something wrong?
I have now done considerable work to the car now, including tracking down all the vacumn hoses that were connected totally randomly, and connecting them to where they belong. But haven't gone enough miles yet to know if it will help at all.
Thanks.

I have a road test from Road & Track -magazine from May 1979. In the "At a glance" -table it says about fuel economy: 21.0mpg. The road test is for Corona Liftback Luxury Edition, but there cannot be too big a difference between liftback and wagon. The car in the test was with 5-speed manual transmission.
