Hi all Corona fans!
I'm restoring a 1980 Corona Litfback Luxury edition w/ 20R engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission. Now there's a need for the pictures of the stickers that have originally been in the engine bay.
As you might guess, I cannot use small and fuzzy pictures but I need big and clear ones. I don't even know where there has been stickers, but the brake booster has a sticker one, distributor has one and alternator, too. I also think there may be one in the air cleaner cover?
Can anyone help?
With many thanks in advance,
Mika

Hi Mika, The stickers are called Caution Plates and Toyota has discontinued many of them. I should know because I have been looking for some too. I did find one in the wrecking yard that I was able to peel off. The one I know for sure that is still in stock is the oil decal on the valve cover and the decal on the fuel door. My 22R plate is available with its updated look, but I'm unsure about the 20R. Is your 20R decal still there? Once you post a clear photo of your engine, we can probably help you more Rick

Mika, Is your car a European vehicle? It might have different stickers than a US vehicle. I'm checking availability on the various stickers. Most are listed as Not Available but I'm trying to order them anyways - sometimes we get lucky and the number can still be available. The only one that shows some stock in the US is the Engine Caution Plate. - the 20R Engine Name Plate shows NOT AVAILABLE.
- the Engine Caution Plate shows NOT AVAILABLE (but they show stock)
- this is your 'oil sticker' kotiweb.kotiportti.fi/mika.latvala/corona/temp/DSC_7820.jpg .
- the Air Pump Caution Plate No. 1 shows NOT AVAILABLE.
- another Air Pump Caution Plate shows INVALID PART NUMBER.
- the Air Cleaner Caution Plate shows NOT AVAILABLE.
- the Engine Vacuum Hose Information Plate shows NOT AVAILABLE.
Regarding the Engine Vacuum Hose Information Plate - there are three numbers listed for an ATM, and two of them are California Spec (that's why I asked if you have a European vehicle). There are actually a total of 9 possibilities just for this sticker (for a 20R RT134) - including variations or combinations for USA, USA California, CANADA, MTM, & ATM! Anyways, while it's not likely that we can get any of these, except maybe one, I'll still give it a try to confirm their availability. We have a holiday over the weekend, but I'll have some better answers on Tuesday, Sept 4th!

Hey Mika, I don't currently have a photo of the fuel door caution plate, but is says "Unleaded Fuel Only" in black lettering outlined with silver. It would typically be located on the upper RH corner of the fuel door. For our models, the plate is unavailable so what I did was had my friend order the one from an RN50 ('84-"88 Pickup). Here is the p/n: 74559-20090. I can't tell the difference The 22R engine plate was updated and now has 2 red stripes above and below the 22R script. Your 20R don't look that bad for its age My Vehicle Emission Control Info plate was available and is located on the underside of my hood on the battery side. Is yours still there? Yes, the air pump caution plate is unavailable, but you can try www.partsvoice.com and see if any pops up. I tried, but there are none but keep trying. The original p/n for the air pump is: 90917-07065 and was superseded to 90917-07075. Mine is located in the center of my radiator shroud. These p/n's should be the same for the 20R motor. If you have no luck, then go to a wrecking yard and peel it off any early 80's Toyota...that is what I did. Keep us posted on what you find! Rick

The oil plate should be affixed just behind the oil filler cap and in front of the ventilation hose. You should be able to read it as if you are standing on the driver's side.
I just viewed your photos and the color of your car is my favorite Toyota color. Back in Nov 1981 when I was buying my '82, Copper Metallic was no longer available. Toyota changed it to Brown Metallic (too dark), so I bought me a Beige SR5 truck.
I noticed that your Air Pump plate is still there. You can try gently cleaning it to brighten it up.
Isn't this fun?

Hey Mika, A slight correction to my previous post regarding location of the oil caution plate. The decal should be placed on the flat surface between the ventilation hose and the air cleaner snorkle. I was trying to describe this to you by memory. I no longer have my original valve cover. I replaced it with a red powder coated cover from LC Engineering, so that yellow plate will really pop out. Have you seen these? I'll make some time to snap some photos of the fuel door caution plate for you over this long weekend Rick

Thanks, guys! This is amazing! I really appreciate your help, it feels like home, even though I'm far here in the north... My car really is a U.S. import. The car has been brought here by a lady who was studying in the U.S. back in the 1980's. She owned the car for 19 years and now I have it! Toyotageek, thanks for those part numbers, I'll try to get that available sticker from the local dealer. Everyone else, if you just have any pictures of those stickers, please send me those. There are companies, that can make stickers based on measures and a photograph. It's a hard job but what wouldn't a man do for his car... edit: BTW, the exact VIN is RT134-058806. The model code can be seen here: kotiweb.kotiportti.fi/~d608915/corona/general/imagepages/image117.htmlThat should help finding the correct parts. Once more, thanks to you all! - Mika

Mika,
FYI - the 17792-38210 Engine Vacuum Hose Information label which is on Backorder, turns out to be coming direct from the supplier in Japan. I'll post a picture when I get it in.

I'll post a picture when I get it in. Great! How about the power steering oil can sticker ( picture)? Any idea of the original text and the sticker measures? I'll make some time to snap some photos of the fuel door caution plate for you over this long weekend Did you? (don't let me rush you!) My Vehicle Emission Control Info plate was available and is located on the underside of my hood on the battery side. Is yours still there? Nope. Would you take a picture of that, please? If you have no luck, then go to a wrecking yard and peel it off any early 80's Toyota...that is what I did. Unfortunately this is not an option for me, because the scandinavian models do not have that kind of stickers. *sigh*

Hey Mika, Yes, I did snap some photos of my caution plates. Please give me until this weekend to download them from my camera. Work has been hectic. So, I will post the Unleaded Only plate and my Vacuum & Emission plates on the underside of my hood. Our Caution Plate for the power steering reservoir is discontinued, but I had my friend order the one from an RN50 ('84-'88 pickup). The script said something like "Caution...do not touch pipes when hot" My plate should be in on Wed, so I'll also snap a photo of that one for you too. Next time I go wrecking yard shopping, I'll try to find a Toyota car that has the Air Pump plate and peel it off for you. Send me an e-mail with your mailing address See you around! Rick

Okay, Mika! Thanks for being patient Here are the long awaited photos of the caution plates. In regards to the power steering oil reservoir, the silver plate on the front is available, but the top one is not. Like I mentioned before, I had my friend order me the plate from the RN50 ('84-'88) Pickup. I'm going over to Toyota tomorrow to pick it up, so I'll post a photo of it then. Once I get back out to the wrecking yards, I'll find you a smog pump caution plate and send it to Timo. E-mail me if you have any questions Rick

Hello Mika & Rick,
Well, I'm interested in seeing what we all come up with!
Rick, that's odd, because I was able to order the top sticker. I didn't check the side sticker, but the top one was still avilable, although I think there was a number change. I will double check tomorrow when I get back to work, and I'll check on the side sticker too.

Hey Mike, Thanks for catching that... <:thumbs up> The p/n that corresponds to my VIN is: 44391-20010 and my friend said that it is unavailable. Can you double check on this? Much appreciated The label from the RN50 (44392-35010) is all yellow and slightly longer. The plate for the front of the reservoir is : 44391-30020 (just to help save you some time in the EPC). Can you also double check on my Emission Plate for my RN34: 17792-35200? Mika was also looking at a fuel door plate. Have you looked into that yet? It is in group 74519 The one from the RN50 is very close and the p/n is: 74559-20090Thank You! Rick

Okay, let's see if I can give you some answers without making things too confusing. First, the Upper Power Steering Reservoir labels. For the 1980 Corona RT134 the EPC shows the original number 44391-20010 and the superceded (new) number 44392-35010. The original 44391-20010 is discontinued by Toyota. The superceded number is still good with limited availability at the National Warehouse. I guess this number has some cross applications including Celica, Truck, Van, and 4Runner. Sorry if I misled you on this, but sometimes I take number supercessions for granted. It looks like the big difference was the original was RED and the new one is YELLOW. I guess if you want to be accurate, it would be best to have one made. Of course, a photo of an original would help. For the Label or Plate on the side, the EPC shows nothing for the '80 RT134. It comes up and says "number not in database"... go figure. However, there are some numbers for later Coronas - For a 7908-8104 RT13# (20R) the part number 44391-30010 is Discontinued. For a 8104-8112 RT135 (22R) the part number 44391-30020 has limited availability. This also fits some Tercel, Corolla, Celica, Cressida, Truck, Land Cruiser and Van. For the fuel door plate, I also come up with 74559-20090 for the RT134. This number has a lot of other cars that it goes with, including the Truck. It is a good number and readily available. Now, for your Emission Plate for the Truck RN34 - 17792-35200, unfortunately that is discontinued and there is no superceded number. Almost any Toyota dealer should be able to get these labels, but if anyone wants them, I have a few of the numbers in stock and can get any that are still available. I have 44391-30020 and 74559-20090 on order and will post pix when I get them. Still waiting for the 17792-38210 which is on backorder to Japan, with no ETA.

Looks great, guys! This helps me a lot! Mr. C. Dinkler has a package waiting to be sent to me, so I'll forward all that information (of course Carlyn sees it from here) to him, and hope I get all the decals I wanted.
I think the biggest problem at the moment is the decal in the air cleaner cover. Does anyone have a picture ot that - or maybe a part number? Even something that looks almost the same? Anything?
How can I ever thank you all?
-Mika

Received the label for the side of the power steering reservoir 44391-30020 Regarding the decal for the air cleaner cover. The microfiche (EPC) shows a label on the SIDE of the canister, nothing for the top. The parts number is 11293-28040 and fits for 7908-8112 RT13# with 20R or 22R. It is discontinued. I don't have any photos and no good images. All I have is what is shown on the EPC - it is the one listed as 17700C: If you want any of the available labels, let Carlyn know I have them in stock... he knows me!

Mika, Good news! I have found you an Air Pump plate. It was off a 1980 Pickup truck with the 20R motor and it is a bit dirty. It was a bit rainy today and the plates don't peel off as easily. I also got you a windshield washer fluid reservoir plate (for a spare). There was a 1981 Corona RT135 sitting there with most of the parts intact, but it did have front end damage. It was beige with beige interior. How much do you know about the Corona line. I know that in 1977, the Corona was also badged as an SR5. This car was a Luxury Edition and had a Tach. Mike...can you shed some light on this? I've been looking around for a 1977-1980 Corona for my daily use. My SR5 pickup truck is my daily driver now. I do want a Corona with a Tach and must be a 5-speed. There has been (2) on Craig's List recently, but I do not want another White car. I already have a 1993 Mustang GT in White. I'll be sending the plates to Timo on Monday BTW, no fee for the plates Rick P.S. Send me an e-mail with your e-mail address.
