Hello there! Excited to find the club and to have joined! I'm sure I will learn alot about bringing my Dad's '87 Extra cab Longbed back to top shape. Not sure anyone in the family was too excited over the prospect of inheriting the pickup, but one of Dad's final statements was "try to keep the Toyota in the family". And in the few days since his funeral I have absolutely fallen in love with the pickup. Already had several multi-hour drives in it and am amazed that when I turn it off there is total silence....no pings, cracking or other hot metal cooling sounds at all! Pickup has 246,000 miles on it and is red. Dad bought it new in early '88. I'll never forget one conversation we had...Dad said, "Bud, I've gone over 2 years without needing an oil change." Something only my Dad could have been proud of..ha! Dad was a hillbilly, working 36 years at Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri. The pickup was said to never have been driven over 40 miles an hour, and I think I was the first to engage the overdrive button...ever! Unbelievable....Well, said enough, I intent to keep the pickup a long time, and will search out members advice on keeping my new\old pickup in top shape...thanks, longbedbud

My condolences. That's right 3 - 5K mi between changes makes'em last. 8^ )
I feel like ur 'over the hill' when both ur parents have passed. My mom died in '00. I wuz 48 y/o. That doesn't feel over the hill. My dad is 93 (this May) & at 66 i DO feel over the hill so that ol saying doesn't apply here I guess. Again, my condolences, no matter what age, it never feels too good to loose a parent. - -Chad
