I figuring I should start posting my project updates in an actually Stout forum. For other Stout owners sorry about the delay but I have several Stout books I plan on scanning. I just took over the Safety/OSHA manager position at my job. I have been busier than usual learning about safety Protocol, Going to classes, etc. I purchased two Toyota Stouts from a local junk yard. I plan on restoring one and maybe do something crazy with the other. I have one down to the frame. I planned on doing a front disc conversion from a 1975 Hilux but discovered that the wheel cylinders are in great shape. I am using the upper A-arms (hilux) because they use the newer 4 bolt ball joints.

Low compression caused by cylinder three deciding to blow up. Probably why it was in the junkyard.

I sand blasted the frame and decided to use KBS Rustseal. It is a company founded by someone that worked at Por15, very similar stuff. I would advise you to read the safety procautions. It can be some pretty nasty stuff. Here is the link. If you use the code YT10 you get a 10% discount. www.kbs-coatings.com/

Here is the finished frame. I plan on painting the brake lines, gas line and spare tire holder gray. Suspension pieces will be painted red.

Very cool, your project is looking fantastic. Any chance you have some spare parts available from your parts rig?

Looking really nice. Do the Hilux a-arms bolt right up?

Looking really nice. Do the Hilux a-arms bolt right up? They bolt right up just have the newer top ball joint pattern. I think any 2WD Toyota pick up from 1969 to 1978 should be good. If its 1975 and up you can get the goods for the front disc brake swap. The bottom A-arm does not work only the tops.

Here is the engine all coming together. The turbo on my Subaru decided to grenade so the Stout has been on the back burner.
