My wife and I have multiple Toyotas, most of which are for daily use. However, we still have our first two Toyotas which have always been our “babies”: an '86 Cressida wagon (68K) and an '89 Camry DX 5-speed FWD sedan (134K). Both are showroom quality as we bought them new and have babied them all these years. Unfortunately, due to the rearranging of garages for our daughter's wedding recently, these two cars were caught out in the open when a storm with golf ball-sized hail hammered them and our house. This is literally the first damage these cars have ever sustained. Typically, they are garaged and covered with custom-fit, heavy gauge Technalon covers. The covers were on them, but the hail totally shredded them and thoroughly pummeled both cars. Our insurance company recognizes that these are exceptional cars as the adjusters report stated, "have never seen cars of ANY age this nice unless it is on a show floor." The insurer has advised us to seek out legitimate sources to establish a value that the cars would likely command form the right buyer. We want the value as high as possible so we can get the hail damage repairs covered without having the car "totaled" for some lesser sum. Any ideas? We would really appreciate any help. No way would we let these cars go, but it would be very helpful if the damages were paid by the insurance company. Thank you!
