Anybody have any pointers on the best way to get to the heater blower motor? I'd also like to see if I can check out if the ducting is working right as when when i turn on the defroster it only blows a little bit of cool air but blows hot air all through the center console (weird). So I'd like to see If i can check for a clog or perhaps a linkage cable not opening/closing vent doors properly.
Thanks!

From memory, I think if you move enough stuff out of the way, you can get to the motor (on the left side) and remove it.
I do not remember removing the heater core with the unit in the car but I think you can remove the hoses & bottom covers and slide the core out.
Over the years a lot of trash will come in the fresh air inlet at the top and the core fins will be loaded with trash. And as you suggested, a cable may be loose. Try taking the core out and see if you can clean & check things. If the motor does not turn freely, you will have to remove and try to oil the bearings or replace it.

Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and bought a new motor. Found one for 25 bucks online so I'll just swap it out. I'll maybe post pics of the process if I think of it at the time.

So I finally had time this weekend to get under the dash. I found out what the problem was instantly. The heater core is pretty much rested out and leaking. Now on the Hunt for a new heater core. Any suggestions? Love working on this car, very easy and straight forward design thinking is making it really fun to work on! Attachments:
