Well, now that I have the Celica from rad_ra21 on 1stgencelica, there is an issue I need to get an opinion on. The battery drains fast (really fast) with the lights on, so driving at night more than a few miles is not a good idea. So, I have a choice........ A high output alternator or back to the factory original harmonic balancer and get rid of the aftermarket piece on there.
Opinion on what's better?
The alternator would require more work, but is a harmonic balancer cheaper and easier to find?
If a harmonic balancer is the best option------who has one?
If a new alternator is the better option------------which one?
It is a 1975 RA22

This is an R series we are talking about? I've never heard of a harmonic balancer on anything but detroit iron. You can have your current alt rebuilt to put out more amps. Check with your local alternator specific companies.
