Ok I have a chance to get a great deal on some eagle rods and some JE pistons. However the pistons are for an 85-95 22R block and the block I have is an early 81-84 block. Does anyone know if the pistons will still work in my block? Also the pistons bore are 94mm which means I would need to bore mine .080 over and I don't know if my early block has enouhg meat for that does any one know if they do or not?

The pistons and rods are the same. The earlier block 20/22r block(1975-1981) is actually a bit taller than the later 22r/e(1982-1995 block. So your pistons might have a tad bit lower compression if used in an earlier block. The standard 22r piston is 92mm so yours are oversized. Boring 80 over isn't a big deal though.

The late block has lower deck height by almost .250 . That will drop the compression ratio by LOTS. Yes it will run but you may never be happy with it. If your building a high performance engine you need the higher ratio to build power. These engines do like a lot of compression if your running high octane race fuel. The rods are the same but the pistons have a different pin height and the head /top of the piston is a different shape. D.R. 11 P.S. The late block was produced 1985 to 1995. You can find the dimensions and instructions on the L.C/ Engineering web sit.
