Very nice. Keep us posted. What were you thinking for a powerplant?

Looks like a wild project! Are you dropping the body to the ground, or making a rock crawler with lots of axle travel?

The plan is to set it on the ground. I want to keep the body close to stock. I am going to keep all on the emblems, door handles, etc. I plan on shaving the top bed rails and adding new peices to follow the lines of the cab, so the bed rails will go in like a newer truck. As for a motor the plan is to drop in a 383 stroker with approx 450 hp. The inside of the bed will receive all new sheetmeta,l as well as under the hood. The truck was missing a lot of the original equipment when I bought it ( drivetrain, interior ), and the stock frame had been modified to be a rock crawler. But the body was in too good of shape to just smash up on some rocks.

Very cool, looking forward to following this build.
Have you thought about keeping a toyota power plant at all. Something like the 1UZ-FE 4.0L V8 would be sweet and those motors can make some really good power.

Update: been working on getting my garaged wired up for all of my tools. But as soon as my garage is squared away I will be back on the build.
