Sweet. Sounds like a ..."fun" project. Even though I hate to see these classics get 'modified', I guess the important thing is that they are kept on the road, at least in one way or another. I hope you'll drop by once you start working on it and share some of your project with us. Maybe spread the word about us here, over at the IH8MUD.com Forum? If we can get enough Stout followers over here, maybe we can start up that Stout Support Group one of your other members was asking about!

Welcome. Woohoo..... new members in the Stout section makes me Looks like you got a bit of work to do on your Stout. Makes me feel a little better about mine. ;D Actually if I had yours I'd get it roadworthy, slam it and simply cruise it as is. Ultimate rat-look right there. All it needs is a full set of white-walls and you're set. Definately keep us posted on any progress with this one though.... very interested.

;D I know that feeling! I dredged out the interior, found some goodies under all the dirt, but no hubcaps.

If you would be willing to sell the rear brake cylinders I would be eternally grateful. You'll probably need to remove the half axles though to get them out.

Ya I'd sell em if they're usable let me check on em.
I have the whole rear (4.88s I think) Motor/trans, carb, intake, exhaust mans ,radiator, steering box w/sifter attatched, battery tray, front cross member, valve cover, gas tank w/ filler and a(new) tre or two but not sure if their right or left threads.

Its not been modified, its a jan 65 truck. 64s and about half the 65s had this grill. left overs from the toyopet grills before they were imported to the US. the grill is much flatter and is not a direct bolt on to the late 65-66+s. Well just need to move a few mounting holes, but the head light bezels are also 64-E65 only. toyotacluborg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=stout&action=display&thread=1257

complaints in the export market, mainly north america due to lack of room in the cabin, the cabin was extended for 1965 and a new grill/grille was fitted. the extension is in the rear of the cab and is 50mm or two inches, it is rear of the doors and gives more room between the driver and the steering wheel, the 70 series landcruiser utility had the same extension 20 years later.
i have a 1962 and a 1976

Wait, so mine is 2 inched shorter? I was not aware. Doors are the same? I knew my fj45 fixed was shorter than the removable top fj45.

yes in the section rear of the doors 2 inches was added on export models built for 1965 market onward (doors are the same), it is an extension of the cab at full width pre radius to the back of the cabin. www.flickr.com/photos/yehright2/5924331990/in/photostream/www.flickr.com/photos/yehright2/8049647393/in/photostreamUS models are year dated to the year they were sold, as there were more imported than actually sold in the first few years of sales. the two different grilles is the main way to tell the difference between the two and the later grille and extended cab started production in around September 1964 and is classed as around 1966-67 in the US. here in australia the extended cab version with the later style grille like OZ STOUT AKA chobis 1965 RK43 with a 2R engine was in much demand as the earlier RK40 R engine was used to build roads and other theiss constructions projects and there became demand and orders for more than could be supplied to the genral public. there were not many early stouts pre 1965 in australia as toyota only started dealership in 1963 and there were limited amounts of theiss constructions( became toyota australia) own stouts that people asked about, wanted and very few could be supplied and hence why the RK43 started being sold here as fast as they could be built and sent i hope that the info i posted on here might help toyotacluborg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=stout&action=display&thread=1529
