Well after rebuilding the Aisan carburetor and not being able to solve the rough idle problem, I decide to buy and install a Weber carb kit. The kit was the Redline K746 kit that included the Weber 32/24 DGAV Weber carb, accelerator linkage interface bracket, intake manifold adapter plates, rectangular universal air filter system, and installation instructions. There are a lot of omissions in the installation instructions. Emails to Redline and Top Performance (who sold me the kit) go unanswered (to this day). I figured it out though I'm still not confident in the tuning adjustments. I adjusted the idle mixture screw IAW the instructions, and according to these instructions my primary jet is on the edge of being too small. I won't bore you with the details. BTW, my original carb had the water-heated choke, so I got the DGAV model vs the DGEV model (commonly listed). This is a simple switch for the vendor. The air filter system is kind of cheap, but it works. You will not be using your original air filter system. The way the choke is designed, it makes it difficult to get a normal screwdriver to the various adjustment screws on the back of the carb. So far it runs fine went warmed up, and gas mileage has drastically improved over my previous leaky factory carb system. I know that doesn't say much, but it a huge positive for my situation. The cold start is still unsatisfactory, in that I have gotten high idle only twice in about 20 cold starts.
Have any questions or advice, let me know. Thanks.

UPDATE: Well the carb functions about the same, but I got Weber to send me a new one to solve the choke issue. I'm expecting within a day or so. Two mpg measurements show that I get 22 to 23 mpg on the Interstate. I don't know what this car was rated at new.
