i have the 20r in my 77 rona. i have pretty much done eveything to the engine. and it has started to surge after i have the carb choke rod replaced. the card is not stock and has been looked at and looks great. i have replaced the distributer, water pump, plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, valve cover gasket set (no leaks). re wired the vacumm lines so that they are correct. i really dont know what else i can do at this time other than coil. any idea would be great.

i fixed it, there was a hose that i hooked up when i replaced the carb this last time, it was blocked off before, and last night i took it off. and runs like a champ.. so thanks for looking
as for as what it does its for the choke and the line runs between the carb and valvle cover. so if you have a idea what it is

I have an 1980 Corona, and after I reworked all the vacumn lines, the RPM would go up to may be 2000 after you took foot gas and car in nuetral, say at a stop sign. The RPM would drop down, but it took maybe 60 seconds or so.
In my case it was an emissions device designed to raise the RPM to maybe 1000 after taking foot off gas, but was adjusted poorly, there was an adjustment screw on the device, and my book had a description of how to adjust it, but in the end I found that it was bent, so I bent it a little and fine tuned wtih the screw...
Don't know if this is relivant...
