Hey There, First of all, all 1979-1983 pickup trucks (RN#3, #4, LN40) were made in Japan. Starting with the 1981 model, the trucks were shipped over without a bed (cargo box). US beds were made in Long Beach. There were a few trucks that made it over from Japan with a bed because it has a Japanese bed on it (the ones with the 2 latches on each side).
Generally, I depress my gas pedal twice before I turn the key in the morning. Are you saying that you need to "choke" the engine more times?
It's a good idea to service the carburator. I use a carb shop that tunes my Weber. Since the fuel was left in the tank for 3 years, then it would also be a good idea to drain it and pour in "fresh" gas. Check your cap for any pitting. If so, then replace it and the rotor. While you are at it, replace the spark plugs too.
Hope this helps! Rick
