A couple of weeks ago I spotted a Celica just like mine: I left a note on the car and 6 days later I was talking with the owner on the phone. We met up today to check out each others cars and just talk. We met at a neutral zone, then drove to my house. It was strange seeing 'my car' in my rear view mirror. And the stares that we got - that was cool! My twins owner is the original owner of his car. Both cars have a production date of March 1977! The 'twin' has the slightly older VIN. Now we are trying to find a triplet that we've seen around town! ;D

I had never seen this post before. That is soooooo cool TG !!!!! Did you ever have any luck catching up with the 3rd one? What differences are there between these two? I can see that there is no side body mould on yours, rims are obviously different and I can see there is some sort of black stripe??? along the side of the other one just below window line. Apart from that the only diff I can see is that you keep your aerial down so it doesn't look so ugly in photo's Oh and you have a cool JAF badge on your grille which he doesn't have. That makes yours cooler cos I have one of them on my Stout too. ;D Should update my sig pic.

Ha ha! Thanks Oz! There aren't too many obvious differences between our cars. Mine has fairly low mileage (around 60,000 miles), while the twin is over 150,000 (maybe more - I'll have to ask). I removed the side moldings from my car a few years ago; they were attached with tape and it was losing it's ability to stick (I still have them though in case I ever decide to put them back on). The twin has pin-strping on the sides and hood. I have the factory rims on my car, while the twin has some dealer option wheels (remember, he bought his car new, and picked out his wheels... I'll have to ask what they are). We are still trying to get hold of the triplet car... so stay tuned! I posted pix and reported the 'meeting' on my blog at the time I met the twins owner. You can read them HERE and HERE

Thanks for the links TG. Wow..... two Mike's with the same car living so close together. That's crazy. You can't help but wonder if those two cars have met previously at the factory as well. Great story. It's really great to see that the other Mike bought that car brand new and has looked after it so well. It still looks great 30 years later.
I gotta say TG........ given the comparison pics...... I really like the look of yours with the side mouldings removed. Really cleans it up.

Hey Mike, Regarding your "twins" wheels, these are the famous American Racing Equipment Vectors. They were made more popular when the General Lee sported these wheels on the Dukes of Hazzard.
I had only 13,000 miles on my SR5 factory wheels (with beauty rings) and it took me 1 year until I saved enough money for an aftermarket set. Thanks Togo's! Remember, it was 1982 and I was still in HS. I ran Centerlines for almost 24 years and 2 years ago I threw on the ARE Vectors Special Edition. These wheels were discontinued since the mid-80's or so and was brought back in the market in 2006. I would have to guess that the Dukes of Hazzard movie with Jessica Simpson had something to do with the re-release.
Sorry Mike! You have never seen my RN34 SR5, so I'll post a photo of her sometimes soon.
See you around! Rick from San Jose
BTW, I love the '76-'77 Celica Liftbacks (RA29)
