Hey guys. Just want to say that I am new to this forum.
I just bought a working 1976 toyota celica for $400. This car does have some problems and I've been looking everywhere for a maintenance book for my celica. Does anybody know where I can get something similar to a Haynes for a 1976 toyota celica?
Some problems that I have are the following:
1. The steering wheel column can move side to side by about 1/8" each direction left right
2. The center console is ripped out so I have no idea how to turn on the ac, and rear defroster
3. How to adjust the choke. Reason being that if I leave the car sitting for 5 days or longer, I have to use starter fluid (in a can) to get the engine running. Afterwards, due to a 5 day cold startup, my 20R will idle so low it will cut out
4. My (fuel/temp) gauge kinda works. On a slight incline, my fuel gauge reads no gas. My temp gauge doesn't move at all. I have no idea if there is a thermostat in the car and if there isn't I have no idea how to install one.
5. My (clock) gauge doesn't work.
6. My odometer counts fine but my tripometer doesn't move at all. I've tried pressing the reset button but that doesn't help.
Does anybody know what the stock tire size is for the 76 celica? My speedometer is reading 5mph faster than I'm actually traveling. So I have to drive 45 to keep up with 40mph traffic
Lastly, does anybody have any pdf documents regarding testing of this car or perhaps the specifications?
These are just some of the things wrong with the car. Lots of easy things but I'm a total noob when it comes to classics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
