So I believe I have found the problem with my 3R motor- The PO said the problem was a "faulty distributor", and upon inspecting the distributor I found that the Vacuum Advance ground wire had been severed. So, I pulled apart the dist and I am about to solder up a new ground wire, but I'm wondering if anyone can give me an approximate gauge wire to use with an approximate length?
If not I'll just eyeball it and hope for the best, but it'd be nicer if I could get a direct answer-

The original wire is a very flexible braided wire without insulation, maybe 18 gage, 2" long, and with an eye connector on one end to go under a screw on the breaker plate assembly. The other end is soldered in a notch on the vacuum advance that you should see when you remove the vacuum advance from the distributor.
