i found this on craigslist.it just read "rare car 1959 toyopet with suicide doors"this was on thanksgiving night.i called the # the next day at 8a.m. the guy had the car.wanted $500 for it.i got the address.drove out and seen the car.he needed to have it gone soon or he would take it to the crusher.he had many junk cars and trailers he was moving off his moms property.i talked him down to $350 and got the title.the next day i picked it up.before i went out to look at it i googled it.and seen many photos and even some video footage.including frenchys 1958 toyopet.i was excited!it was like i had struck a gold claim.my wife was supportive but rest of my family wasn't.i have a tendency of buying old cars.i had a 65 valiant convertable.i sold it to a guy who is restoring it,it was i bigger project then i could take on.i bought this year a 1972 mgbgt i am going to get rewired and restored.i just love old cars.my family just shake there heads when i get something.so now i have 2 projects. fun fun fun

This can be a fun project. I also have a 1959 that I found in a farm land in Ione Calif bought it for $375.00. I am planning to due some type of restoration with it not until we move in our new home and build a 10 car garage at least than I can start .

Great story on how you got the car. If you could register with the Toyopet Crown Registry located at www.toyotageek.com/CrownRegistry.html , I can add you to the roster. The registry includes space for vehicle info, including frame and engine numbers (Persoanl info on the registry is for member use only, and will never be made public). I'm just about to mail out a copy to all members, so it would be great if I could add you.
